My Speciality

I specialize in helping individuals and families, including the self-employed, who do not have an employer contributing towards their health insurance premium. There are many types of health coverage options available outside of an employer, so I take the approach to evaluate your current situation and recommend which options may best fit your needs. There is never a charge for a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a PPO and a HMO
PPO: Preferred Provider Organization. A PPO allows you the freedom to choose your own doctors and facilities. Even if the doctor or facility is not in-network, the insurance is still responsible for their portion. A PPO also allows you to go straight to a specialist without having to ask for a referral from a Primary Care Physician.

HMO: Health Maintenance Organization. A HMO may only give access to a limited number of doctors and facilities in its small network. If one seeks care out-of-network then the insurance company may not be responsible for any of the bill unless deemed a life-threatening emergency. A HMO typically requires you to have a referral from your Primary Care Physician before being able to see a specialist.

Can I sign up for health insurance year round?
When enrolling into the Affordable Care Act/Marketplace, one must either qualify for a Special Enrollment Period or be in the state’s Open Enrollment window. Open Enrollment in Texas is November 1st to December 15th and the plans would begin on January 1st of the following year.

Private insurance is not regulated through the government so those plans are available for enrollment year round.

What determines the rate of health insurance?
Outside of an employer, health insurance rates are primarily based off of the zip code, age, and gender of everyone on the plan.

About Me

I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX and now reside in the greater Houston area. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.S. in Healthcare Administration. After working for years in
customer-service relations and in a clinical setting I made the decision to venture into the insurance world.

Growing up with my father as a self-employed business man I saw the need for those self-employed and small business owners to have options to affordable health coverage with benefits comparable to those of a group plan through a large corporation. I specialize in helping those who are self-employed, looking into options aside from COBRA, or if you are just uncertain about if you are in the best insurance situation possible.

I could not have asked for a more rewarding career as I have the privilege of helping individuals, families, and small businesses find health coverage that fits their financial and medical needs. I am licensed
in the great state of Texas as well as other states throughout the country. I urge you to reach out to me for my assistance in going over all of your options from group plans to government to the private sector. The last thing I would wish for is for you to call me from the hospital bed asking for a better insurance option when it may be too late. Allow me to see if I can help put you in the best possible situation with your coverage

Testimonials

“Katie Dake is amazing. I’ve personally used her in a time when I needed her the most. My husband was between jobs, Cobra for our family would have been over 2k a month and she was able to find the whole family coverage for 1,200+ LESS! She messaged me back late in the night when I was extremely scared and was so kind and gracious. If you need insurance— THIS IS THE GIRL TO CALL!!”

Mandy P.

“Katie has made it super easy to find coverage after turning 26. I was not interested in shopping for new health insurance and she has done all of the hard work for me and presented me with the best options making it much easier for me to make a decision. Super knowledgeable and helpful!”

Samantha R.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Katie as my agent for over a year now. She has been there any questions or issues that have came up whether it was in the early morning hours or late evening hours. I have always been skeptical about insurance agents and lawyers, I can say with Katie there is no concern. She was able to get me what coverage and plans my family needed and none of what we didn’t. Keep up the good work Katie and I wish you the very best.”
